TORRANCE, CA - Government Fleet magazine, Clean Cities, MEMA, and The 100 Best Fleets in North America are co-hosting a seminar March 18 for fleet managers and their team members called, "Implementing Best Business Practices: What Smart Leaders Do in Difficult Times." The seminar, which features guest speakers and panel discussions, will be held in Inglewood, Calif.

Attendees will learn about the following topics:

  • Alternative funding for fleets.
  • How to eliminate RFPs - a presentation by Greg Haglin, National Join Powers Alliance (NJPA).
  • How to write grants - a presentation by Charlotte Whitney, a grant writer from Palm Springs, Calif.
  • How to go green and remain lean - a presentation by Paul Condran of Culver City, Calif., the No. 1 green fleet in the U.S.
  • How to use information technology more efficiently in your operations.
  • How to implement ideas and promote change in your organization.

Attendees will also hear from Betty Linck, a retired fleet director for Greenwich, Conn. Linck's fleet was ranked consistently in the top 20 in the U.S. She also was one of the highest paid fleet managers in the U.S. and was named "A Fleet Woman of Influence in 2008."

The seminar is scheduled 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at the City Hall Community Room, One Manchester Blvd., Inglewood, CA 90302.
