AUSTIN, TX --- CleanFuel Conversions and Altech-Eco announced a distribution agreement to bring EPA-certified, bi-fuel -- gasoline and CNG -- retrofitted Ford Focus cars to Texas.

The CNG Ford Focus can run on either compressed natural gas or gasoline and comes with a manufacturer-rated CNG cylinder of 9.1 gasoline gallon equivalents (GGEs). The driving range is 218-318 miles, with an average of 35 mpg on highway and 24 in the city.

The Ford Focus with the CNG option is now available in Texas through CleanFuel Conversions and should be available soon through participating Ford dealerships. Altech-Eco offers an eight-year 80,000 mile warranty, and Ford Motor Credit has approved financing for the incremental cost of CNG conversion.

Austin residents also qualify for an additional $3,000 rebate from Texas Gas Service.

"CleanFuel is committed to helping Texans move to a better transportation fuel," said CleanFuel President Ronnie Oldham. "We are excited about offering a bi-fuel vehicle like Altech-Eco's Ford Focus retrofit, which will allow customers the ability to begin enjoying the benefits of CNG today. The Focus provides a great platform for the CNG retrofit."

CleanFuel is actively looking to partner with local fleet operators to establish two or three new public CNG fueling stations in Austin this year.
