UGI Utilities was awarded $196,040 in grant funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to acquire 31 vehicles powered by compressed natural gas (CNG). With these purchases, the utility expects to save the equivalent of about 20,447 gallons of gasoline.

The grant will fund a mixture of CNG-only and CNG dual fuel vehicles, including Freightliner tractors, light-duty Chevrolet and Ford trucks, and Ford Transit vans. The new vehicles will be fueled at existing public access stations.
