TORRANCE, CA – Although expected, Toyota announced on Sept. 13, 2011 that production of its vehicles in North American has returned to 100 percent. The automaker said in June it had brought eight of its models back to full production, the Avalon, Camry, Corolla, Matrix, Highlander, Sienna, Sequoia and Venza. Today’s announcement means its Tacoma, Tundra, RAV 4, and Lexus RX 350 models are back to full production as well.

Toyota said it will now plan on replenishing dealer inventories via overtime and Saturday shifts. Production will be 15-percent greater in the fourth quarter than what the company had forecast prior to the earthquake and tsunami.

Separately, the company also confirmed that its Alabama engine plant will begin four-cylinder engine production this month. The Huntsville plant, which already builds six- and eight-cylinder engines for trucks, will build the four-cylinder for Camry, Highlander, RAV4, Venza, and Sienna.
