The City of Detroit has privatized waste management services as part of its bankruptcy recovery plan and is auctioning off its aging fleet of refuse trucks. Last week, the city awarded $122.6 million in contracts to two commercial haulers for the work.
Detroit’s New Hybrid Refuse Trucks Now on the Road
The City of Detroit took delivery of eight new hybrid refuse trucks with funding assistance from the Clean Energy Coalition (CEC). CEC provided funding to cover the incremental cost of the hybrid system.
