MOBILE, AL – The Mobile Police Department is converting 30 cruisers to run on clean propane autogas, according to Alliance Autogas.

The new propane autogas-powered vehicles are funded through a Department of Energy grant, with vehicle conversions and fuel supply provided by Alliance AutoGas. Alliance also recently facilitated the conversions of 30 Mobile public works vehicles.

Other Alabama fleets making the switch to propane fuel through Alliance AutoGas include the Alabama State Docks, Baldwin EMC, the Department of Agriculture & Industries, the Counties of Lee, Greenville, Pickens, and Greenwood, and the Vestavia Hills Police Department.

Propane autogas fleets currently pay around $1.25 per gallon less than gasoline, and many fleet report their vehicles require less maintenance, according to Alliance Autogas.
