Propane Switch Saves Oregon Agency $25,000

Less than a year and a half after converting its 10 patrol vehicles from gasoline to propane autogas, the Polk County (Ore.) Sheriff's Office reports that it has saved $25,000 in fuel cost.

Pennsylvania Extends Alt Fuel Vehicle Rebates

Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection has extended its Alternative Fuel Vehicle Rebate program, which will continue to provide $2,000 rebates for 500 additional large-battery system plug-in hybrid electric and battery-electric vehicles, or until Dec. 31.

Worthington Introduces 'Spare Tire' Propane Tank

Worthington Industries' propane-autogas fuel tank has been approved by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). The doughnut-shaped, or toroidal, tank fits in the spare tire space of a car or pickup truck, and will be available for order in August.

Omaha Schools’ Propane Bus Investment Pays Off

Omaha Public Schools (OPS) and Student Transportation Inc. (STI) collaborated on the district’s deployment of 435 Blue Bird Vision propane school buses last summer, and over the last year of operating the buses, OPS estimates it has saved $200,000-plus with propane autogas versus diesel.
