Halliburton has deployed 100 light-duty pickup trucks fueled by compressed natural gas (CNG). The company stated it's assigning the vehicles to 15 U.S. locations in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, California, Louisiana, Utah, and Pennsylvania. According to the company, the vehicles will save approximately $5,100 per truck in fuel costs annually.

The company plans to study data from the pilot program to determine whether a larger rollout is feasible.

“With this pilot program we expect to obtain a wealth of information on what it would take to bring about a successful, broader adoption of CNG light duty vehicles across the company,” Halliburton Western Hemisphere President Jim Brown.
