LINCOLN, NE -- The Lincoln Airport Authority opened Lincoln's first -- and Nebraska's third -- public compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station on Nov. 4.

The address is 3520 NW 36th St. in Lincoln Air Park West.

In addition to serving the Airport Authority's fleet of CNG vehicles, the station will be available to the public on a 24-hour basis for credit card-only purchase of natural gas. Some of the initial users of the station include Black Hills Energy, Eric's Electric and the city of Lincoln's new Library Bookmobile.

To help pay for the cost of the station, the Lincoln Airport Authority received a grant from the Metropolitan Energy Center, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act.
