ORLANDO, FL --- The Vehicle Production Group recently introduced its MV-1 paratransit vehicle, designed to meet or exceed guidelines set by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA).

The MV-1 will offer an OEM-engineered and assembled dedicated compressed natural gas (CNG) powertrain option, in addition to the option of a conventional gasoline engine.

The MV-1 has an estimated range of 250 miles. There are three Type III CNG tanks integrated into the vehicle's design.

Fleets and Fuels reported that steps have been taken to secure both U.S. EPA and California Air Resources Board certification, according to VPG engineer Leo Darocha.

Both gasoline and CNG versions of the MV-1 are powered by GM's 4.3-liter Vortec V-6 engine. The vehicle, developed with about $10 million in support from Clean Energy, will be built by assembly partner AM General on a former Hummer line in Indiana, NGV Global reported.
