The California Energy Commission has approved a $3 million grant for a fuel cell vehicle project through its Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program (ARFVTP).

The grant was awarded to clean transportation consortium CALSTART to build and demonstrate four fuel cell shuttle buses to serve economically distressed and air quality-challenged communities in Los Angeles and the Coachella Valley.

The ARFVTP develops and deploys innovative technologies that transform California's fuel and vehicle types to help attain the state's climate change goals.
