Volvo Unveils S60L Concept, Updated V60 Plug-in Hybrids

Volvo recently introduced its Volvo S60L PPHEV (Petrol Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) Concept Car at the 2014 Beijing International Auto Show, as well as announcing the availability of the MY-2015 Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid.

The 238-hp S60L PPHEV Drive-E gasoline turbo and plug-in hybrid will be launched in China early 2015 and will be produced at the Chengdu plant. The vehicle is equipped with three driving modes (Pure, Hybrid or Power), which be selected via three buttons. The S60L PPHEV Concept Car can be recharged from a regular power outlet at home or in a car park. The recharging time, from 4.5 hours to 4.0 hours, varies with the amperage.

The diesel Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid, touted as one of the best-selling hybrid-electric vehicles in Europe in 2013, is now also available in Volvo Cars’ R-Design version, which features a sportier exterior. The front wheels of the V60 Plug-in Hybrid are powered by a five-cylinder 2.4-liter turbodiesel producing 215 hp and 325 lb.ft. of torque. The car has a six-speed automatic transmission. The rear axle is powered by an electric motor producing 68 hp and 148 lb.ft. of torque. It is supplied with power from an 11.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack installed under the floor of the load compartment.
