TOKYO, JAPAN --- Honda Motor Co. is considering expanding its number of gas-electric hybrid models to include minivans, sports cars and luxury sedans, according to a report in the Yomiuri newspaper.

According to Bloomberg, the newspaper cited statements made by Honda President Takeo Fukui.

Honda introduced its Insight hybrid in February. April sales were reportedly 10,481 cars -- more than double its monthly target of 5,000.

Honda's current hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles include the Civic Hybrid Sedan, the Insight Hybrid, the Civic GX Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) and the FCX Clarity Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicle (very limited leasing availability).
