FTC Amends Alt-Fuel Vehicle Label Rule to Ease Compliance

April 19, 2013

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has amended the Alternative Fuels Rule, which consolidates the labels required on alternative-fuel vehicles (AFVs) with the EPA’s labels. This amendment eliminates the need for two sets of labels for AFVs.

The original rule was created in 1995 under the Energy Policy Act, which requires labels on AFVs to provide information such as driving range and fuel type.
