SAN BERNARDINO, CA - San Bernardino County Fleet Management has purchased three Smart cars to study their efficiency, durability and usefulness, and determine whether to add more of the mini-vehicles to the county fleet, according to the Victorville Daily Press.

"They're nimble and they run real well and they're very comfortable, surprisingly for how small they are," said Ron Lindsey, San Bernardino County fleet manager. "They are just not your typical fleet car - I think that's what people like about them."

The county chose to test the vehicles, 2009 Smart Fortwo Passion Coupes, for their high resale value, low maintenance costs, and projected 41-miles-per-gallon fuel efficiency, reported the Daily Press.
