Etowah Co. to Consolidate Fleet Maintenance Operations

GADSDEN, AL - Etowah County will consolidate its fleet maintenance operations in one location and house a county fuel system to save money, according to the Gadsden Times.

The county will construct the facility for the consolidation, which will pay for itself in about five-and-a-half years, officials told the Times.

Commissioners noted the bid on the building, which will take 180 working days to complete, was about $100,000 less than projected.

The County Commission also approved ordering six triaxle dump trucks off the Association of County Commissions of Alabama's bid list for delivery in March. At that time, the commission will sell the seven dump trucks the county has and use those proceeds to pay off what is owed on them.

The commission expects an estimated $223,000 to apply to the cost of the new trucks based on an estimated sale price. Yearly payments on the six trucks will be about $50,000 less than the current payment, reported the Times.
