March 16, 2009

Baker County projects coming in $230,000 under budget; $260,000 is the hope in Nassau County; and St. Johns County expects to save $688,000 even before the sheriff's vehicles are accounted for, according to

Clay County Manager Fritz Behring said he's expecting to save between $1 million and $1.5 million. While that's welcome, Behring said it's only one step in offsetting the losses expected from decreased sales tax collections and the housing market slowdown.

The City of Jacksonville, Fla., expects to save $7 million on fuel costs.
