IRVINE, CA --- Fisker Automotive, a producer of green sports and luxury vehicles, plans to unveil a new concept car during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, set to begin Jan. 11.

The automaker will also display its production version of the Karma, a luxury plug-in hybrid.

Fisker Automotive is a joint venture between Fisker Coachbuild and Quantum Technologies.

The Fisker Karma S will be powered by the Q-Drive powertrain, which offers a 50-mile range on a single charge to its lithium-ion battery pack and up to 408hp from two electric motors, the company said.

Fisker Automotive CEO Henrik Fisker will announce details about the Karma S at the company's press conference on Jan. 12.
