LONDON, U.K. --- GreenRoad Technologies, a leader in driver safety technologies, announced that PHS Group's Datashred Division is deploying GreenRoad Safety Center across its nationwide fleet of 100 heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) to improve driver safety and reduce CO2 emissions.

PHS Datashred provides a secure collection and confidential shredding service across the U.K. Its agreement with GreenRoad follows a three-month trial of Safety Center in 20 London-based HGVs and LCVs in the spring of 2008. During the trial, GreenRoad demonstrated a 33 percent improvement in safety and a clear reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

"Our drivers are the lynchpin of our business and their safety is always of paramount importance to us," said Ian Walsh, national transport manager for Datashred Division, PHS Group. "We were already motivated to find new ways to reduce crashes when we came across GreenRoad. With the rising cost of diesel, GreenRoad's ability to reduce fuel consumption and associated CO2 emissions sealed the deal for us."

GreenRoad Safety Center rates driving skills without invading the driver's privacy or tracking location. An in-vehicle sensor collects information on more than 120 different driving maneuvers. These are constantly analyzed to give the driver feedback about the driving and areas that need improvement.

Individual drivers receive instant feedback from a small display on the dashboard. The driver and the fleet manager have access to more detailed analysis of driving skills and recommendations for improvement through a password-protected Web site.

GreenRoad clients have reduced accidents by an average of 54 percent and lowered accident costs by an average of 65 percent.

"PHS Datashred takes its responsibilities to its drivers very seriously. It has always strived to improve road safety and the installation of GreenRoad boosts its efforts dramatically," said Aidan Rowsome, vice president of GreenRoad EMEA.
