Ore. Offers $6M for Alt-Fuel Vehicles

April 18, 2016

The Oregon Department of Energy (ODOE) will provide up to $6 million in state tax credits for fleets that replace at least two existing fleet vehicles with new or converted vehicles powered by alternative fuels.

Eligible applicants for the incentives must be owners of Oregon trade, business, or rental property or are part of an Oregon non-profit organization; and they must own motor vehicles that do not run on petroleum gasoline or diesel. Type of vehicles available for the incentive include law enforcement vehicles, ambulances, and emergency vehicles as well as commercial vehicles.

Applicants qualifying for the tax credit may not use the incentives to fund more than 35% of the project's cost. The tax credits for the project will be claimed over a five-year period.

Applications for the project will be accepted through April 30, 2017, but could end sooner if the funds are allocated prior to the date. The tax credits are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The incentives for this announcement are part of $20 million in tax credits from the ODOE that are available for transportation projects for the department's current biennium ending June 30, 2017.

Other transportation project tax credits offered by the ODOE include opportunities for alternative fuel vehicle infrastructure and transit services.
