The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, is building a "green vehicle" workshop that adopts the latest international technologies to conserve electricity and water consumption, at an estimated cost of AED98 million, according to a report by the Middle East North Africa Financial Network (MENAFN).

According to the report, DEWA said the green vehicle workshop has followed the highest sustainability standards in construction, selection of materials and operations, and has been designed according to the criteria of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, LEED, of the U.S. Green Building Council Institute.

DEWA owns a fleet of 3,330 different types of vehicles, which includes light and heavy vehicles, drilling equipment, and other special equipment. The total area of the vehicle workshop is 280,761 square feet. It includes a workshop for light and heavy vehicles, and special equipment.

It is equipped with the latest equipment and machines, with an accident repair workshop, paint shop, washing area, car wash, management office, and spare parts stores. The workshop uses the latest sustainable technologies for lighting, air conditioning, and water use, and it’s expected to be completed by the end of March, according to the MENAFN report.
