BMW Updates 2017-MY Sedans, i3 EVs

BMW is updating several models with new engines and adding new standard and optional equipment to its vehicles for the 2017 model year, the automaker announced.

Significant model updates for 2017 include the new 2 Series coupes and updates to the i3 battery electric hatchback to extend its range.

The 2017 BMW i3 94 Ah can now travel 114 miles on a single charge, a 40% increase over the outgoing model. The updated i3 will also add standard equipment such as advanced real-time traffic information, 19-inch wheels, and DC Fast ChargeNow availability for two years. The i3 EV will retail for $44,595, and the i3 with range extender will retail for $48,445. The 2016 i3 EV retailed for $42,400.

Changes to the 3 Series sedan and wagon for 2017 include a new 4-cylinder engine on the 330i model. The 330e iPerformance plug-in hybrid introduced in 2016 adds the iDrive 5.0 navigation package. The 2017 320i sedan will retail for $34,145, while the 330e retails for $44,795. The 3 Series xDrive Gran Turismo line adds a new 4-cylinder for hte 330i and new 6-cylinder for the 340i.

The 2017 7 Series adds a display key as standard equipment and remote controlled parking as optional equipment.
