Volkswagen is adding itself to the list of automakers who offer an all-electric vehicle to U.S. buyers with the 2015 e-Golf, which it will bring to the Los Angeles Auto Show this week.

The electric version of the Golf, a compact car offered since 1974, uses a lithium-ion battery and 115 horsepower motor. Top speed is limited to 87 mph.

The e-Golf will have a range of 70 to 90 miles per charge, and will be the first Volkswagen model to offer all-LED headlights.

Fleet buyers registered 1,449 Golf cars in calendar-year 2012.
