Delphi, Youngstown State Team on Hybrid/EV Project

March 22, 2011

COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Ohio Controlling Board has approved a $1 million grant to help fund a $2.3 million project in which Delphi Automotive and Youngstown State University will develop improved battery cables for use in electric and hybrid vehicles, Vindy.com reported.

The project involves developing an aluminum conductor cable to replace the copper cables now used. The funding request was previously approved by the Ohio Third Frontier Commission.

Delphi hopes to begin Ohio-based manufacture of the resulting product within two years of the project's start.
