WATERTOWN, MA --- Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick last week visited A123 Systems, a maker of lithium-ion batteries for electric and hybrid vehicles, and touted the company's technology and role in helping the commonwealth's recovery from the recession, GateHouse News Service reported.

"Clean technology is one of the fastest growing sectors in the commonwealth and most of those jobs are in manufacturing," Patrick said at a press conference Oct. 1 outside of A123's Watertown office.

Patrick and other politicians at the press conference highlighted the company's value in generating jobs.

A123 also has plans to open a plant in Lavonia, Mich.
