BorgWarner is now supplying its variable turbine geometry (VTG) turbochargers to Volkswagen for the newly developed 1.4L three-cylinder diesel engines, the powertrain producer has announced.

Engineered to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions, BorgWarner's VTG turbochargers are designed to boost the performance of Volkswagen's 55 kW and 66 kW diesel engines. Both engines comply with Euro 6 emissions standards and improve fuel economy up to 21 percent compared with the predecessor vehicles, with the 55 kW diesel engine delivering up to 75 mpg in fuel economy, according to BorgWarner.

The 55 kW and 66 kW diesel engines, which are based on the modular diesel engine system, will be available with several Volkswagen and Audi vehicles.
