Tri-State Biodiesel is expanding a biodiesel production plant in Bridgeport, Conn., to accommodate additional fuel storage for biodiesel with the aim of making the facility a regional hub for the biofuel, reports the Connecticut Post.

The expansion of the Bridgeport Biodiesel plant will include a 12,000-square-foot addition and 20 new jobs to support the expansion of the plant. The $4 million project is being financed with a $2.5 million load from the National Development Council's Grow America Fund.

Production of the biofuel will increase from 3 million gallons a year to 10 million gallons a year. The plant manufactures biodiesel by mixing recycled cooking oil with methanol or ethanol.
