CHICAGO --- A facility that processes major quantities of biodiesel fuel each day was the site of an explosion on Friday, July 17.

According to Reuters, the explosion seriously injured two workers at a facility owned by Columbus Foods Co. The firm makes and ships vegetable oil, shortening, biodiesel and related products.

The Fire Department said the explosion was apparently caused by some sort of chemical reaction. The facility suffered considerable damage. Some walls were partially collapsed.
